주변에서 연락이 정말 너무~~~~~~~~~~ 많아요!!
그냥 한번에 정리해서 올려봅니다ㅎㅎ
저는 학교 관계자도 아니고, 학부모 회장도 아니고요!
그저 애정을 갖고 다니는 학교에 우리 아이 보내고 있는 평범한 엄마입니다.
그래도 선배맘으로서 이 글이 누군가에겐 도움이 될 수도 있을 것 같아서 적어봐요.

🎓 서울삼육초, 영어 특성화 맞나요?
네! 맞습니다!
서울삼육초는 영어 특성화+외국어 특성화 학교예요.
- 매일 정규 수업 시간표에 영어 1시간
- 입학 직후 영어 레벨테스트 후 분반 수업
- 중국어도 1학년부터 정규 수업 있어요
- 수행평가, 말하기 대회, 통지표에 성적 기재
이 정도면 확실한 외국어 특성화 맞다고 생각해요.
🌍 국제반(i.c반) 정보 총정리
국제반 = 방과후 영어 심화반이라고 보시면 돼요.
시험 보고 선발된 친구들만 들어갈 수 있어요.
- 1월쯤 레벨테스트 (영역: 스피킹, 리딩, 라이팅, 리스닝 전부 봐요!)
- 영유 2년차면 무난히 붙음 / writing이 변수 (제 개인 생각ㅎㅎ)
- 일반 유치원 출신이라도 간단한 리딩과 기본 리스닝 되면 합격 가능!
국제반 수업은 원어민 선생님 수업, 영어로만 진행돼요.

🎶 1인 1악기 수업, 어떻게 하나요?
서울삼육초는 음악교육도 참 잘 되어 있어요.
- 주 2회 정규시간에 1:1 악기 레슨
- 선택 가능한 악기: 바이올린, 첼로, 플루트, 클라리넷, 성악
- 연말에는 반별 음악회
샤샤는 첼로 선택해서 처음 시작했는데
지금은 스트링빌더 2권 배우고 있어요🎻
음악에 관심 없던 아이가 '나비야' 연주한 거 보고 울컥했네요 ㅋㅋ
🥗 진짜 채식 급식인가요?
진짜입니다!! ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
- 고기 ❌ 해산물 ❌
- 콩고기, 채소 위주의 식단
- 멸치는 나와요!
종교적인 이유로 채식 급식인데,
샤샤는 오히려 편식이 많이 없어졌어요.
집에서는 고기 위주로 먹여서 균형 맞춰요ㅎㅎ
🙏 종교 수업 있나요?
있어요~ 서울삼육초는 제칠일안식일예수재림교 재단이예요.
- 주 2회 성경 수업 (일반 성경 내용)
- 아침 예배 간단히 있음
- 찬양, 기도 있는데 강요 분위기 전혀 없음
- 아이들은 그냥 옛날 이야기 듣는 시간쯤으로 받아들여요 :)
📚 수업 질은 어떤가요?
솔직히 이건 담임 재량이 커요.
사립이라 커리큘럼은 잘 짜여있고요.
- 단원평가, 일기/독서록/연산/받아쓰기 등 과제 많음
- 라즈키즈 점수 매주 체크 → 미달되면 담임 쌤 연락도 와요!
- 2학년부터는 문제집 과목별 숙제 제출도 있어요
고학년 되면 영어/중국어/수학은 수준별 분반으로 이동수업 진행돼요.
👩🎓 면학 분위기는?
분위기 진짜 좋아요.
공부하려고 오는 친구들이 많은 학교예요.
샤샤도 원래는 “왜 나만 공부해?” 하던 아이였는데
지금은 친구들이 다 숙제 해오니까 그런 말 안 해요ㅋㅋ
학부모님들도 교육 철학 있으신 분들 많아요!
⏰ 등교시간이 빠르다던데요?
네.... 8시 15분까지 등교, 8시 20분 수업 시작이에요.
라이딩 시절엔 7시 50분 도착...ㅠㅠ
근데 그때 감동받은 게...
교장선생님이 매일 아침 직접 등교 도우심!
비오나 눈오나 우산 씌워주시고, 가방 들어주시고, 차문 열어주시고...
진짜 이런 부분에서 학교 이미지가 느껴졌어요.
🧒 방과후 수업 & 돌봄
- 방과후 수업 과목 수 많고 다양해요
- 아트공예, 주산암산, 골프, 드럼, 창의미술 등
- 인기 과목은 1분 컷!
- 돌봄은 1시~7시까지, 자체 커리큘럼 있음
- 샤샤도 돌봄 너무 좋아했어요~♡
🏫 삼육중 진학 관련
- 삼육초 출신 전형이 따로 있는 걸로 알고 있어요
- 일반전형 아님
- 최소 3년 이상 재학 필요

사립초는 학교마다 정말 분위기가 달라요.
저는 단순히 영어특화 하나 보고 들어갔지만,
지내보니 내실 있고 따뜻한 학교라는 걸 느껴요.

📌 Private Elementary School Application Season — Wondering About Seoul Sahmyook Elementary?
Oh my goodness...
Why am I even writing this? LOL 😅
It’s private elementary school application season right now,
and the number of messages and questions I’ve been getting is... WOW.
So! Instead of repeating myself a hundred times,
I figured I’d just write everything in one post :)
Just a heads up —
I'm not a school official, and I’m not the PTA president!
Just a regular mom with a child currently attending Seoul Sahmyook Elementary,
and I genuinely love our school enough to want to share about it 💛
(Note: This is based on my personal experience and opinions.
Please always check with the school directly for official information — or feel free to leave a comment, and I’ll do my best to answer!)
🎓 Is Seoul Sahmyook an English-focused school?
My answer: Yes! Definitely.
It’s an English and foreign language-focused school.
- 1 hour of English every day, built into the regular curriculum
- Level-based English classes after a placement test during the first week of school
- Chinese is also taught from Grade 1 — includes speaking contests, evaluations, and report card grades
I’d say it’s definitely a specialized school for foreign languages!
🌍 What’s the International Class (i.c class)?
The “i.c class” is an after-school advanced English program
that students have to test into.
- The test usually happens in January
- Students are evaluated in speaking, writing, reading, and listening
- Kids with 2 years of English kindergarten (영유) experience generally pass
- But I personally think writing is what separates the top-tier students!
Even if your child didn’t attend English kindergarten,
if they can read simple texts and understand basic instructions,
they have a chance.
Lessons are 100% in English with native-speaking teachers.

🎶 1 Instrument per Student – Music Education
Each student chooses one instrument and receives lessons twice a week
as part of the regular curriculum!
Available instruments:
- Violin, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, or Vocal (singing)
There’s also a year-end concert for each class.
My child started cello without any prior lessons
and now is working through String Builder Book 2.
Watching her play “Twinkle Twinkle” and “Butterfly” at the music concert melted my heart 😭💕
🥗 Is it true the school serves only vegetarian meals?
YES! 100% true 😂
- No meat, no seafood
- Plant-based meals, often using soy-based meat substitutes
- (Anchovies are okay though!)
This is due to the school's religious background.
But surprisingly, this helped my child eat more veggies and break picky eating habits.
At home, we just give her meat to balance it out!
🙏 What about religious activities?
Yes, Seoul Sahmyook is run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church,
so there are religious elements in school life.
- Bible class twice a week (teaches general Christian stories, not specific doctrines)
- Morning worship before class — some praise songs, a short prayer
- The religious part isn’t pushy at all,
and kids mostly see it as a storytime or movement/dance time 😊
📚 How’s the quality of classes?
Honestly, it depends a lot on the homeroom teacher.
But overall, since it’s a private school, the curriculum is solid and well-structured.
- Weekly unit tests
- Daily or weekly assignments: journals, reading logs, math workbooks, dictation, presentations
- Raz-Kids reading points are tracked weekly — if progress is slow, teachers will call parents
- From Grade 4, English, Chinese, and Math are all leveled classes
👩🎓 What's the learning environment like?
I was surprised —
Most kids here are well-prepared and motivated.
Seoul Sahmyook is known for its academic focus,
and many families send their kids here to build strong study habits early.
Since everyone’s doing homework and studying,
there’s no “Why do I have to study when others don’t?” from the kids.
That alone made a huge difference for us.
⏰ Is the morning drop-off really early?
Yes... 🥲
Arrival by 8:15 AM, classes start at 8:20.
When we did morning ride service, we arrived by 7:50.
BUT — this is where I was seriously moved.
Every morning, the principal stands outside in gloves,
opening car doors, holding umbrellas, helping kids out safely.
Rain or snow, he’s there with a warm smile.
That kind of dedication truly left a strong impression on me.
🧒 What about after-school programs and care?
- So many after-school subjects! (arts & crafts, mental math, piano, cello, badminton, golf, etc.)
- Super popular classes fill up in under a minute
- Afterschool prices are affordable, and teacher quality is high
- Extended care from 1 PM to 7 PM, up to Grade 3
- My daughter loved the aftercare program
🏫 Is there any advantage for entering Sahmyook Middle School?
Yes, as far as I know,
there’s a special admissions track for students who attended Sahmyook Elementary.
- It's not the general admission route
- You usually need to attend the school for at least 3 years to qualify
(But definitely check with the school for accurate and updated details!)
💬 Final Thoughts
Every school has pros and cons,
but honestly, I came for the English program and stayed for everything else.
It’s a small but strong school, warm and grounded,
with real heart behind the academics and daily routines.
If you're considering Seoul Sahmyook but couldn't find much info,
